BEARING BOLT CAPACITY
Bearing Bolt Capacity Calculator
The Bearing Bolt Capacity Calculator is designed to estimate the load-carrying capacity of bolts in structural connections based on bolt grade, diameter, connection type, and number of bolts. It helps ensure safe and efficient design of bolted joints.
This calculator is useful for engineers and construction professionals to quickly evaluate bolt performance under shear conditions. It reduces manual calculations and helps in selecting appropriate bolt specifications for structural safety.
Formula
Bolt Capacity (kN) = n × (0.6 × fu × A / γ)
For Double Shear:
Capacity = 2 × Single Shear Capacity
Where:
- n = Number of bolts
- fu = Ultimate tensile strength of bolt
- A = Cross-sectional area of bolt
- γ = Safety factor
How to Use
Step 1: Select the Bolt Grade (e.g., A325) to define material strength.
Step 2: Choose the Bolt Diameter from the dropdown.
Step 3: Select the Connection Type (Single Shear or Double Shear).
Step 4: Enter the Number of Bolts used in the connection.
Step 5: Click the Calculate button to get the final bolt capacity.
Step 6: Click the Reset button to clear all inputs and start a new calculation.
